In the book, I discuss the long history of white, normative masculinity, and how lesbian, trans, and queer poets, performance artists, novelists, and filmmakers have imagined masculinity otherwise. I offer a vision of gender justice for a time of unprecedented crises. Podcasts, articles, and events will be posted on this page, so stay tuned!

On December 4, 2024, I gave a lecture at the University of Giessen, “Exuberant Embodiment: A Trans Utopia for an Unbearable Present,” based on an essay of the same title forthcoming in the Journal of the Society for Utopian Studies. Using Jose Muñoz’s Cruising Utopia as a guide, I present a vision for a trans utopia centered on exuberant embodiment, which connotes the abundant, overflowing quality of complete bodily autonomy for all.

On July 3, 2024, I gave a lecture at the University of Giessen, Germany, that examines how a Trump presidency puts trans people at risk of being stripped of their right to exist in public. This lecture previews an essay, “How to Make an Enemy: Transmisogyny and the U.S. Presidential Election,” just published in October 2024 in Diversity Issues in the U.S.A.: Transnational Perspectives on the U.S. Presidential Election, open access from [transcript]: Independent Academic Publishing.
